PROJECT GRIFFIN

COUNTER TERRORISM TRAINING - PREVENTION AND RESPONSE

Security personnel in Victoria have been enlisted in the fight against terrorism in an initiative called Project Griffin. Building upon on-going work with the security industry, the Victorian Police and State Government have pioneered Project Griffin to further raise awareness of counter-terrorism.

I.S.T.A. is offering a 4 hour course exposing security personnel to the correct responses required in the event of a terrorist attack in Australia.

Project Griffin was developed by the Victoria Police Counter Terrorism Coordination Unit to raise awareness and understanding in the prevention and response to terrorism. The police terrorism training program deals with three important areas: Terrorism prevention and response; terrorism and hostile reconnaissance; terrorism and the suicide bomber.

COURSE PARTICIPANTS IN THE VICTORIA POLICE DESIGNED COURSE WILL LEARN

  • How to identify the behavioural indicators of a terrorist or terrorist activity
  • Understand the principles of identity and document fraud & how that relates to terrorism
  • Identify Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) & understand IED safety considerations
  • Identify the behaviour and methods of the suicide bomber

Currently, I.S.T.A is one of the few Registered Training Providers in Victoria who is able to offer Project Griffin to the security industry. Project Griffin highlights the relationship between law enforcement and the security industry strengthening the importance of the partnership.
